OS market share

According to the latest reported figures here in the UK, the iPhone is slipping in terms of smartphone market share compared to the growing Blackberry base and the healthiest Android share to date. Compared with last year, phones using iOS software are down by 30% to just 18%, with Android leading on 45% and RIM’s devices rising to 22%.

Since there are many more Android devices on the market than their competitors handsets, it suggests that the wider choice offered by them is winning customers. This extended choice not only includes mobile phone models but also price and operator – Apple sells one phone, whereas there are many Android phones available, from many manufacturers. Users new to the latest breed of mobile phones are driving this change – 74% of new Android users haven’t previously owned a smartphone.

Facebook application for Android

Facebook AndroidThe relationship between Google and Facebook were never good and, since last year that have been fighting … even people say that Facebook had not spent even a weight of its resources on Android. We were so far Android users who do not have an official Facebook application (but at least so do not lose time in the social network: P).

Fortunately,  Techcrunch confirmed that later this week to finally arrive at an implementation of Android Market Facebook.

But as it transpired, the Facebook application for Android will not have the same capabilities as the iPhone version. For example, the inbox will not but will check the stream. In summary, will be built around the stream (thanks to the new stream API) and status updates.

Why Facebook decided to change his mind? basically because the amount of devices with Android continues to grow and the end of the year will be enough, so can not be set aside for those users who have more vibe with Google, which also would have “borrowed” an engineer of the team Android because people do not have a Facebook.
